LENDERS FAQs

Q. I AM UNDER 18 - CAN I BE A LENDER?

If you are under the age of 18, you will need a parent or guardian to lend and liaise on your behalf. All liability will be accepted by them.

Q. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO LIST?

It is absolutely free to list all of your designer items with SOKEN Boutique! Once your dress is hired out, we handle all practical processes as well as cleaning and you will receive a 50% commission of the hire price.

Q. I AM A CORPORATE LENDER WITH A LARGE STOCK BASE TO UPLOAD - CAN YOU HELP?

Of course! We have a tech team here to help with high-volume uploads to take the pressure off listing your stock with us. Simply send an email request to admin@sokenboutique.com with your website URL or Instagram, and include any pricing adjustments you would like to make.

Q. HOW DO I LIST MY DESIGNER ITEMS?

Contact us on admin@sokenboutique.com with all details regarding your dress including size, brand and item condition with pictures. We will then get back to you confirming the approval of your item and the price we will be hiring out your dress for. Please note if an item is in ‘near new’ condition, the hire price is approximately 25% of the RRP. Then a meeting will be organised for you to come into the boutique, hand over the item and sign the lender contractual agreement.

Q. CAN I LIST MY ACCESSORIES ON SOKEN. BOUTIQUE?

Handbags are only permitted by exclusive lenders. If you would like to become a verified lender to list handbags, please apply by contacting admin@sokenboutique.com.

Q. WHAT PHOTOS DO I SENT OF MY ITEM/S?

Here is a list of the type of photos that are appropriate to attach to your item listing:

  • Photos of you wearing the dress at an event

  • Clean, well lit photos

  • Professional photos

The following photos are unacceptable:

  • Photos with multiple people in it. This is confusing for Borrowers to know which dress is actually available

  • Photos of your dress on a coat hanger, floor, rack etc.

  • Photos of the same dress but in a different colour

  • Photos of a similar dress

  • Photos with watermark/logo that advertise businesses or brands

**If you do not have any appropriate photos, we can organise a photoshoot.

Q. ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON WHAT CAN BE LISTED BY SOKEN. BOUTIQUE?

SOKEN Boutique exists to allow users to tap into their under-utilised high-end designer clothing, therefore most designer dresses and handbags are accepted, provided they meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is above $100

  • The item is in excellent condition

The following are not able to be listed:

  • Casual-wear

  • Items with an RRP below $100

  • Items in poor condition

  • Items with noticeable stains, pulls or tears

  • Item infringes on the copyright of any person or product including fake designer names and replicas

  • Items from fast fashion brands

** SOKEN Boutique reserves the right to deny listings they do not feel meet the above.

Q. WHEN ARE LENDERS PAID OUT FOR HIRES?

All lenders are paid out 7 days (in business days) after the agreed hire period. This is to ensure that the item arrives on time and in good condition prior to the lender being paid out (so as to protect the borrower) and to allow for a period in which we are able to complete refunds on your behalf, to prevent lender from having to transact from personal bank accounts. If you feel there has been a delay in you hire being paid out to you, please contact the Support Team. All lenders are paid out 14 days (in business days) after the agreed sale date.

Q. IS THERE A LIMIT ON HOW MANY ITEMS I CAN LIST?

There is no limit to how many items you list with the SOKEN Boutique, as long as they meet all of the appropriate criteria.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE DOESN’T RETURN MY DRESS?

Borrowers automatically receive a text message reminding them of when their item must be returned - so it is most likely on its way back to the boutique. If you wish to receive further confirmation that an item has been returned, you can contact the admin@sokenboutique.com.

Q. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DRY CLEANING?

It is SOKEN Boutique’s responsibility to dry clean each item before sending it to the borrower. This allows SOKEN Boutique to control the process, set the pricing and take it to the dry cleaner of their choice.

Q. MY DRESS HAS BEEN RETURNED DAMAGED - WHAT DO I DO?

If your item has been returned damaged, SOKEN Boutique will inform you and work with the borrower to have you reimbursed for the cost of either repair or replacement.

SOKEN Boutique will take pictures of your items before each hire, so SOKEN Boutique has an accurate record of when damage was sustained. Please note that SOKEN Boutique does not take responsibility for the loss or damage of items rented out through the platform. SOKEN Boutique simply provides an additional online marketplace for lenders and borrowers to connect. Although SOKEN Boutique will work in every way possible to make sure these reimbursements are received, we are not liable for the payment of these.

Q. A BORROWER IS REFUSING TO PAY LATE/DAMAGE FEES – NOW WHAT?

In the event that a borrower refuses to pay late/damage fees due, we will give them 14 days to make this payment in good faith. If they resist further, the account will be passed on to a debt-collection service.
